The city’s crime-rate continues to drop, evidenced by a 40 percent drop in homicides in the past five years, a 16 percent drop in burglaries and an 18-percent drop in robberies in 2017.
Mayor Kenneth Gulley will deliver the State of the City of Bessemer Address on Jan. 29, 2018 at 6 p.m. at the Bessemer Civic Center, 1130 Ninth Avenue Southwest. Mayor Gulley will use the address to discuss issues and accomplishments in the city of Bessemer over the past year, including updates on crime fighting efforts, economic development and infrastructure projects.
