Local church opens its doors as warming station
Triumph the Church and Kingdom of God in Christ in Bessemer, in collaboration with the City of Bessemer, is opening its doors as a warming station starting Friday and lasting through Sunday morning. The warming station will be located at 1431 13th Avenue North in Bessemer and is available to citizens of Bessemer and surrounding areas without adequate means of heat. The warming station will open at 6:30 p.m. Friday evening until 6 a.m. Saturday morning and from 6:30 p.m. Saturday evening to 6 a.m. Sunday morning. In addition, meals will be served from 7:00p.m. to 8:00p.m. each night. This is a community effort to meet the needs of the community. Central Alabama remains in the grips of an unusual cold spell. Temperatures in Bessemer and surrounding areas are expected to drop into the low 20s both Friday and Saturday nights.
