NOTICE OF SPECIAL ELECTION
Notice is hereby given that on January 14, 2025, an election for the purpose of electing a council member for District Five (5) to the city council of Bessemer, Alabama as pursuant to duly enacted law or ordinance, will be held, and that all registered and qualified electors of the state, who reside within the city limits of Bessemer, Alabama, and have resided therein for 30 days or more immediately preceding the date of the election, and who are qualified to vote in the county precinct which embraces and covers that part of the corporate limits of the city in which the elector resides, will be authorized to participate in the election.
The polls will be opened at 7:00 a.m. and close at 7:00 p.m. If necessary, a run-off election will be held on February 25, 2025.
Any qualified elector who will have resided within the municipality of the City of Bessemer, Alabama and the district which the vacancy exists (district five) for a period of at least 90 days prior to the election day may qualify to run for office by filling the appropriate forms and paying any appropriate fees, as otherwise provided by law. These forms may be obtained from and filed with the Office of the City Clerk, 1700 3rd Avenue North Bessemer, Alabama 35020, Monday Through Friday from 8:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. The qualifying period for this municipal election shall be from Monday, December 2, 2024, at 8:00 a.m. until Tuesday,
December 17, 2024, at 5:00 p.m.
